10 NEW FEATURES ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN 2019.

Attention social media fans! Below are 10 new features expected in 2019.

SHARING EVENTS IN FACEBOOK STORIES

Everyone has come across them lately: the Stories. On both Facebook and Instagram, they are becoming increasingly popular. But in 2019, something new will be added: sharing events in our Facebook Stories. Also, through the story, you can let us know if you will come to the event or not.

A ‘DARK MODE’ FOR MESSENGER

By now, we all know that blue light from a screen is seen as something harmful. That’s why Messenger will soon come out with “dark mode. This is certainly something that people who exchange messages daily for an extended period of time on Messenger might consider.

Added to this is the advantage that the app will consume much less which in turn ensures longer battery life, a win-win situation.

A HORIZONTAL FEED ON INSTAGRAM

Chances are that soon you will no longer have to scroll on Instagram but will have to swipe.
This feature was already seen by some users but this was not actually intended yet as it was a bug in the system.

FINGERPRINT TO LOCK WHATSAPP

Privacy is something that people find increasingly important, however, this is something that cannot really be found on Whatsapp yet as the app is not protected with a password or code.

This could soon change, WhatsApp wants to introduce fingerprinting that will allow only you to unlock the app. Also, you will be able to use password or code for should your fingerprint not work.

Currently, the feature would already be tested on Android devices.

COLORED TWEETS AND FEWER BUTTONS ON TWITTER

Twitter wants to show more clearly which tweets you have sent yourself, which responses are from people you follow and which messages are from people you do not follow, they want to do this by giving tweets different colors.

An algorithm will also be used to ensure that the most important posts are placed at the top.

In addition to this, there will also be fewer icons to see under tweets, they will not disappear but will only be seen when you open the tweet.

GET TO KNOW UNKNOWN FRIENDS WITH FACEBOOK

On Facebook you mainly add people you already know but now the App wants to come up with something new, which is to find friends based on the same interests. They will do this by looking at comments posted under public posts.

Not only will common interests be considered but also education, groups you are a member of, etc.

Currently, this feature is being tested in the United States. Who knows, maybe soon in Belgium as well.

DELETE MESSAGES WITHIN 10 MINUTES ON MESSENGER

Sending messages to the wrong person? We’ve all experienced it before. After Whatsapp, Messenger also wants to introduce the feature that you can delete messages again.

Currently, you can delete messages from your own smartphone but not on the recipient’s device, so this could change. But you have to be quick, because you only have 10 minutes, hopefully the recipient has not read the message in the meantime….

POST TO MULTIPLE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNTS AT THE SAME TIME

In addition to the “tag,” “add location” and “share” features, you will soon be able to add another feature to the list, namely, “Share across Instagram accounts. Very useful for professional Instagram users.

This should certainly appear to iOS users before the end of this year, for Android users it is not yet certain.

BLOCK CERTAIN WORDS ON FACEBOOK

Always spoilers about your favorite series? There may be a solution to this.

Facebook is testing a new feature that allows you to block certain words, phrases and emoji. Posts are still published but you can no longer see what it says. That way you don’t have to block a person or page and you can still see other posts.

VOICE COMMAND FOR MESSENGER

Several Android users have discovered code indicating that Messenger is experimenting with a Voice Command. They would do this by introducing an M Assistant button. Pressing this button opens various functions that you can control with your voice. Various functions such as: sending messages, creating reminders and starting calls.

However, this feature has not yet been confirmed by Facebook.

We are already looking forward to seeing which functions we will soon be able to make effective use of !
